`Return money or face legal action’

The Dhaka University (DU) authority has taken a step to realise Tk 37,894,435 from 52 teachers, who are now on study leave, reports BSS.
In accordance with the decision of the university syndicate, the teachers on study-leave, who were stripped of their jobs for not joining the university after the end of their leave, have been served letters to return the money. The teachers had taken loans from the university fund on different occasions.
DU vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said letters have been served to the teachers several times but they did not return the money. They will take legal action against them if they do not return the money soon, the VC added.
The teachers are Shaila Hamid (English Department) Fayeza Sultana (English Department), Sudhir Samuel Chowdhury, (English Department), Md Mainul Hossian Bhuiyan (Chemistry Department), Md Quamruzzaman (Chemistry Department).
